Andrea views it an honor to be welcomed into the lives and hearts of those she works with, partnering with her clients through the journey of self-discovery, supporting her clients in building healthier coping skills, recognizing their resiliency and becoming excited about the possibility’s life has to offer moving forward.

As a therapist, Andrea will take your lead and start where you are at. Andrea works diligently to understand each client, and employs elements of interpersonal and social rhythm therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and harm reduction to create an approach that best suits the individual(s) she is working with. Andrea will work with you to address your immediate concerns, while at the same time laying the foundation for increased personal growth, greater authenticity, and an enhanced capacity for joy. Andrea views psychotherapy as a joint venture, working collaboratively to reach your goals. Andrea’s style is direct, transparent, positive, warm, and interactive. Within the clinical relationship, Andrea will work to create the safety needed to explore the issues that underlie mood dysregulation.

Andrea has practiced social work for over three decades, has been a licensed clinical social worker for over two decades, and holds licenses in New York, Connecticut, and California. Additionally, Andrea holds a certification in perinatal mental health (PMHC).

Andrea has experience working cross culturally with men, women, and adolescents from a wide range of ethnic, racial, cultural, religious/spiritual groups, and sexual orientations. Andrea provides psychotherapy, psychoeducation, coaching and consultation to adults, older adolescents, and families in individual sessions and in groups.

Andrea’s clinical areas of focus over her career include working with individuals impacted by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, worry, grief, life transitions, relationships, co-occurring substance use disorders, family concerns, chronic illness, and individuals and families supporting a severely mentally ill family member.

In addition to working with men of all ages, Andrea is passionate about supporting women through the lifespan that are experiencing mood dysregulation secondary to hormone shifts during menses, pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause.  Andrea’s perinatal mental health specialties include mood and anxiety disorders, supporting birthing parents and partners through their reproductive journey, healing from miscarriages, birth trauma, and contemplating and engaging in fertility services,

Background
Andrea’s experience includes providing psychotherapy within private practice, for-profit and non-profit settings, hospital and emergency room based medical social work, outpatient psychiatric social work, developing and implementing comprehensive individual and group-based programming for Kaiser Permanente, and holding leadership positions in medical clinics, hospitals and non-profit organizations.

In addition to being an Associate at the Scarsdale Women’s Center, Andrea works for Carrot Infertility which is the leading global fertility benefits provider for employees and health plans. Andrea serves as the Fertility Mental Health Clinical Consultant, providing Expert Chat Sessions to persons going through fertility treatments and or on a family forming journey

Andrea received her master’s degree from San Francisco State University and practiced in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than three decades before relocating to New York. Andrea is a member of the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers, the National Association of Social workers, and Postpartum Support International where Andrea currently leads a perinatal bipolar support group.
